Description of the Rincon Waterfall Hike

This is a short, close in hike that leads to a series of pretty waterfalls when the conditions are right. This would be good "warm up" hike to help people evaluate their capabilities before before a longer, more rigorous hike. I first hiked it on the 23rd of December 2013. There had been some rain in the valley and snow in the high country two days before and so the stream had water in it. There was still some snow visible up on Rincon Peak high above the waterfall. One drives to the trailhead which is right by a cattleguard with a fence on the west side of the road. The waterfall is visible from the road at this point as a wet streak down a smooth sided rock up the mountain to the west. The trail more or less follows the fence in a westerly direction up toward the waterfall. Although the hike is short, it is a moderately difficult hike because it is steep, narrow and the footing can be difficult. Between the trailhead and the pool at the base of the upper falls the elevation change is about 200 feet as measured with GPS. It might be a bit more. This hike requires some long stretches as one climbs up, over and through boulders. There are some beautiful scenic views all along the hike.

There are no toilet facilities at the trailhead or anywhere nearby.
