Directions to the AZ Trail Hike
off Box Canyon Road
There are two ways to get to trailhead. One way is
slightly quicker and uses I-10. This route takes about 1
hour of driving time. The detailed description below uses
this route:
- Leave Benson and drive west on I-10 for about 26
miles.
- Take exit 281 for AZ83.
- Drive south on AZ83 for about 21.7 miles.
- Turn west on Madera Canyon Road (aka Box Canyon Road
or Hwy 62).
- Drive about 3.25 miles to a "Y" in the road.
- Stay to right at the "Y" and drive onto Box Canyon
Road.
- Drive about 0.91 miles to the parking area and trailhead.
One can also drive to Sonoita, AZ and then come north on AZ83 to
Madera Canyon Road (aka Box Canyon Road and Hwy 62).
Once on Madera Canyon Road the directions are the same as
above.
